Internship Regulations

Regulations for the Establishment of the Off-Campus Internship Committee
Under the Interdisciplinary Bachelor's Degree Program, National Chung Cheng University

Purpose
To promote and supervise student internship-related affairs and to establish a practical internship mechanism, the Program has established the Internship Committee (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”) in accordance with the University’s guidelines for setting up off-campus internship committees.

Duties

  1. Plan and promote off-campus internship courses.
  2. Confirm the evaluation results and selection of partner institutions.
  3. Draft written contracts and individual internship plans for students.
  4. Coordinate and handle student complaints, disputes, and incidents.
  5. Manage early termination of internships before completion.
  6. Review and follow up on student internship supervision visits.
  7. Address other matters related to student rights and interests.

Committee Composition
The Committee is convened by the Program Director and composed of:

  • Ex officio members: Full-time faculty of the Program.
  • Appointed members:
    One representative from an off-campus internship partner organization recommended by the Program Director.
    One current student representative recommended by full-time faculty.
    One Program staff member responsible for internship affairs.

Appointed members serve a one-year term and may be reappointed. All members are appointed by the Program Director.
Committee members serve without pay. Non-university members may receive transportation and attendance compensation according to relevant regulations. Representatives from internship institutions invited to attend meetings may receive transportation reimbursement as per university policy.

Meetings
The Committee shall meet once per academic year, or more frequently if necessary. Relevant units or personnel may be invited to attend for reporting or clarification. A meeting quorum requires more than half of the committee members, and decisions must be approved by more than half of those present. Authorized proxies may attend with a written letter of delegation.

Internship Implementation
Eligible Students and Duration

  • Target students: Primarily second- and third-year students.
  • Internship period: Summer term of second or third year, lasting 4–6 weeks.
  • Nature: Full-time participation at host institutions in interdisciplinary-related activities.
  • Credit: 2 internship credits, offered in Summer Term of Year 2 or 3.

Students are required to complete a total of 6 internship credits to graduate. If unable to complete internship courses, students may substitute up to 6 credits with courses from the Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship program.

Internship Process

  1. Program-Coordinated Internships: The Program will connect with external institutions and provide written introductions or hold information sessions.
  2. Self-Initiated Internships: Students may propose an external organization by submitting the application form and declaration within the deadline. Approval will be reviewed by the Curriculum Committee.
  3. Placement Process: Students will rank preferences on a selection form. The Program and TAs will coordinate placement and publish results.
  4. Announcement: Accepted students and their guardians will be notified, and lists published online.
  5. Pre-Internship Training: Conducted by supervising faculty before internships begin.
  6. In-Internship Supervision: Faculty will conduct individual or group supervision during the internship.
  7. Site Visits: Supervisors may visit host institutions and complete a visit record form.
  8. Student Submissions:
  9. Internship Plan (within the first week).
    1. Weekly Internship Journals.
    2. Final Internship Report (within one week of completion).
    3. Assessment: Internship performance is graded 50% by the department supervisor and 50% by the faculty supervisor.
  10. Faculty Supervisors: Rotated among the Program’s full-time faculty.


Supporting Measures

  1. Institution survey conducted by February; placements finalized and announced by April.
  2. Maintain a written database of host institutions for student reference; hold info sessions as needed.
  3. Students are insured either by the host institution (Labor Insurance) or the Program (Group Accident Insurance: NT$1,000,000).
  4. Faculty supervisors may claim travel reimbursement for site visits.
  5. Upon completion, internship presentations or review sessions will be held.
  6. Internship certificates issued to students upon fulfillment of requirements.
  7. Thank-you certificates presented to cooperating institutions.


Implementation and Amendment
This guideline is implemented upon approval by the Program Committee and submitted to the University-level Off-Campus Internship Committee for record. Amendments follow the same procedure.
